MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – According to South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce, in February 2017, the state of South Carolina experienced its largest one-month employment increase in history, with the Myrtle Beach metropolitan statistical area contributing to the employment growth.
“The tourism industry remains vital to the economic health of our area,” said Brad Dean, president and CEO of Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce. “Tourism dollars create jobs not only directly within the industry but in other economic sectors as well. Our goal is to bring in 20 million visitors along with 1,000 new jobs by 2020. The news is good: Tourism generates income which stimulates additional investment and growth in our communities along with an increase in employment.”
